🇦🇺 Australian Open, Semi-Final Prediction
🇯🇵 (4) Naomi Osaka vs. 🇨🇿 (7) Karolina Pliskova

Expect fireworks when Naomi Osaka and Karolina Pliskova do battle under the Melbourne sun on Thursday with a spot in the Australian Open final up for grabs. Osaka and Pliskova are two of the most powerful players on tour, this match will be played in extremely quick conditions in the heat of the day, the ball will be flying through the air. Who can control their power and come out on top here?

I’m going to give the edge to Naomi Osaka in Thursday’s second semi-final at the Australian Open. There are several reasons that seemingly give Osaka the edge in this match-up.

This is a match-up of small margins. There will be few breaks of serve given both serve so well. Both have powerful baseline games and are most dangerous when inside the court and dictating play. The key difference is that Osaka is a better counter-puncher. Osaka is better at defending and is a better mover around the court, this is seemingly the only point of difference in what is otherwise a very even match-up.

Another factor is that Osaka is seemingly in better physical shape heading into this match. Osaka looks in prime physical condition whilst Pliskova is coming off a huge battle with Serena Williams where she had her knee tapped. I doubt Pliskova is in peak condition right now and may struggle mentally and physically after such a big win on the previous day.

Prediction: Naomi Osaka to defeat Karolina Pliskova in 3 sets
